Stealthwatch: Janet and Janet Aberdeen have worked together to ensure the continuation of the Stealthwatch monitoring tool, although it is not run by Janet itself and was procured by AbMAN outside the Janet Partner Agreement. When Janet took over direct operation it was clearly understood that part of the overall service would be the continued use of Stealthwatch. Topology:

First think, then react Don’t be too ready to use a button marked “report abuse” (or “this is spam”).It results in real work for a lot of people, and you must do your bit by checking that you are sure you mean what is implied by pressing the button. Don’t send it to the wrong place. In particular when an e-mail message has been delivered to a Janet address it is very rarely useful to complain to Janet CSIRT. The Computer Services or similar department in your own organisation should be able to explain what is going on.

What is Subnetting Subnetting is a way of partitioning a network at the IP level by dividing a block of addresses into a number of smaller sets. To understand what is happening, first look at some small numbers rather than a full IP address. Take the set of 'addresses' 100 to 129. If computers used decimal representation, this network of 30 addresses might naturally be split into: 100 - 109 110 - 119 120 - 129 The first two digits represent the subnet number (10,11,12), while the final digit gives the address within the subnet.

The use of private addressing and NAT permits even fairly large organisations to make the best use of a small block of addresses allocated from the globally unique IP address space, and assists in conserving this limited Internet resource.
