The following manufacturer comments have been made in response to the Radvision Scopia XT5000 evaluation document.

1. Single Monitor Layout

This statement appears in the 'Hardware Description' section of the document:

In single monitor mode a maximum of two images may be displayed, it is thus not possible to view the near, far and presentation images simultaneously.

Radvision:

In software v3.2, which is expected in May 2013, a three image layout will be supported in PoP mode, including local, remote and presentation.

2. Web Video

This statement appears in the 'Graphic User Interface' section of the document:

Snapshot images of the local video at the CODEC are also provided and the user may select the image size and refresh rate of this image, this web video image of the local camera is however only available when the system is not in a call. Video snapshots of the far end video are not available.

Radvision:

In software v3.2, which is expected in May 2013, the local web video will be available during a call.

3. Camera Performance

This statement appears in the 'Video Tests Summary' section of the document:

The Radvision camera had some shortcomings. Dark areas of the image lacked contrast and appeared grey rather than black. When compared to other vendors cameras the image also appeared slightly soft. Tests using material from a PC or other HDMI cameras connected to the main camera input indicated that these issues were related to the Radvision camera and not to the CODEC or monitor performance.

Radvision:

The problem was related to an incorrect setting of HDMI luminance dynamic when the XT camera was recognized.

This incorrect setting caused a clipping of the lowest and highest luminance values, making the black not completely dark and the white not fully bright.

This problem is fixed in version 3.1.1.x or later.

Applying versions later than 3.1.1.x the problem disappears completely.

VTAS:

Further tests with version 3.1.1.26 confirmed that this new version had resolved the issue.

4. Additional Features

Radvision:

a) Scopia XT Room System SMB Edition. This is a unique capability to enable participants from PC/Macs and mobile devices to join into the internal MCU of your endpoint. It therefore enables an organisation to have some of the key capabilities of a larger infrastructure deployment at a fraction of the cost. This is an optional extra license and only requires a small windows server to operate the SMB server software.

b) SCOPIA Control. This is a touch screen control app for the iPad that enables organisations to have simplified endpoint control from a large, easy interface, again at a fraction of the cost of the traditional AMX/Crestron integrated room control system. The license for SCOPIA Control is included for free with the XT5000 allowing unlimited iPads to be used to control the unit, this license is optional for the XT4200 and XT240.

c) New remote control. A new Simplified Remote Control for XT4200 and XT5000 is now available. It is optimized for the usage with the new Graphic User Interface of our latest generation endpoints. It will be provided by default with the purchase XT4200 or XT5000.
