Group Manager

This site is for Janet customers in the London region and aims to provide a method of sharing information and ideas for our customers within London. Janet encourages you to interact with us through this group to share your ideas and current work so that others may benefit from your experiences and help inform the shaping of Janet services.

Customers in the London region having a new connection as part of the procurement should now have received an automated e-mail prompt detailing a Target Service Date. This date represents the date when the connection is expected to be available for you to use and is based on the Target Delivery Date that the supplier has provided us, plus an additional month for Janet to complete the migration process.

The contract for Janet connections in the London region was signed 7th November 2013 and work now begins in earnest to plan, build and deliver your Janet connections.

You should have received details from Gary Blake, the Janet Project Manager in late September or early October this year.

Janet will shortly start the process of procuring a new contract for Janet connectivity for customers in the London region.  This will replace the current Janet London service that is set to end on 29 March 2014. This exercise takes on board customer comments received from recent site visits, the results of the survey monkey run in January and draws on feedback from the requirements gathering workshop held in February.

The procurement for managed circuits for the London region was officially published on 21st June 2013. This was issued just three days later than previously advertised. However, the remainder of the procurement timetable is unchanged and is shown below for information:

Operational Requirement available

The Janet London infrastructure procurement process is nearing completion and the contract has been awarded to Virgin Media Business. As this is a change from the current provider, there will be a programme of delivery and then migration to the new infrastructure.

We are in the process of writing to all customers in the region regarding their individual connections but, in order to keep you informed of the next steps and give you an opportunity to ask questions, we are running an event on 4 November 2013 at University of London, Senate House, Malet Street, London.
