This is the usual annual Scotland version of the NHS-HE Forum which has run as an additional, separate event since 2006 to particularly focus on the NHS-HE connectivity and shared content challenges in Scotland. It last met in October 2012 and has been waiting on news on the Scotland Wide Area Network (SWAN) procurement which is set to replace N3 as the NHS network in Scotland. Ron MacDonald, Head of National Infrastructure Services at NHS National Services Scotland has agreed to be the key note speaker. Previous Scotland NHS-HE Forum details at:

As the N3 contract is coming to an end, Ron MacDonald describes how the re-procurement is the vanguard project for the Scotland Wide Area Network (SWAN) programme, as part of the Public services Network (PSN) development and in response to the McClelland Review of Scottish Public Sector ICT. Since the Forum the OJEU for this has been issued. Ron also gives an update of the NHS Scotland videoconferencing project. Whilst mostly focused on NHS use the arrangement does use the N3 Janet Gateway to videoconference with academic partners.

Colin is the lead for the Information Governance for connecting to N3 in Scotland. He notes that the rules are essentially the same in Scotland as in England but they use a Manual of Information Security/NHS Scotland Information Security Policy with direct review rather than the policies covered by the online Information Statement of Compliance including the Information Governance Toolkit process as in England.

Garry described how an Aberdeen University led project, but working with University of the Highlands and Islands and University of Stirling, provided guest eduroam access for visiting University staff and clinical placement students at Raigmore Hospital. Guest access on NHS sites is an acheivement in its own right, and something that is a growing movement, but the extra challenges in this case were to make eduroam work for all three Universities that have staff and students at the hospital and that the MAN was run by UHI rather than Aberdeen.
